Butterflies and flowers

When you are an only child sometimes your parents go over the top. This huge frame had a canvas painting of me in my high school graduation gown. It was 15.5 x 19.5 inches. About eight years ago my mom gave it me. My husband hung it up, he's sweet. Anyway, with my birthday approaching I got really sick of seeing my 17 year old self smiling at me every morning. One morning I took black craft paint to my image and covered it. I had an idea of gluing butterflies to the canvas. My mom always said I could do whatever I wanted to with the painting. This makes me happier. I like it. My husband said I ruined it, but he's just biased. The butterflies are hot glued on. In all, this project cost $3.54.

I bought these roses from the bargain flower section at the grocery store. They were $4 because they were a little bit old. I have this brocade box that looks like a Chinese food takeout carton. I put a little plastic cup inside the box and arranged the flowers. They lasted four days because I changed the water daily and cut the stems at an angle and shortened them. One thing I must always have in my home is flowers. Someone once told me they don't like flowers because they just die. Well, people die too, and I like them just fine. There's this song by Gym Class Heroes called The Fighter that I love, love, love and one of the lyrics says, "We're gonna live life til we die." Amen to that!
See you next time!

Selling on eBay

Selling on eBay has been the greatest decision I ever made. I have a closet full of stuff I've bought over the years. Like this ice bucket
It was a Georges Briard design that I bought in 1991 to celebrate my first job, at a country club. I neither golf, nor drink, so there was no reason to hang on to it. Georges Briard was a popular designer from the 50s through the 70s. I sold the ice bucket for $15! Pretty cool, considering it was just sitting in my closet, gathering dust. Now someone who loves it gets to live with it!
Today the auction will end for this cookie jar. I was a weird kid who spent my allowance on stuff from antique stores. I like the cookie jar, but I think someone who loves it should live with it. I'm also selling this cool chalkware figurine, the auction will end on Sunday the 15th.
It's hard to believe that I'm old enough for this to have been the kind of prize they gave away at carnivals. I was an Evel Knievel fanatic, so getting this prize was the highlight of my summer when I was 10 in 1983. I love his mischevious grin! Selling on eBay has been such a blessing for me as I deal with illness. I really enjoy connecting with my clients and spreading joy. This week I'll be filling out paperwork for a DBA (doing business as) ID. I'm so excited! See you next time...
