Day 12: Sunset

I love to watch sunset. There’s something special about dusk. It’s as if the sun heaves a deep sigh before settling in for the night and resting. Canopies of trees surround my neighborhood which is why I live here. People waved at me as I walked down the street trying to take a decent picture.

My mom had given me a box of ghost shaped cupcake pans. She loves clearnce sales and always winds up with the neatest stuff. My son Marty and I decided we would haunt each other with supernatural stories. We ate all the cupcakes. I was going to take pictures of them but they just weren’t very photogenic. We had a good time eating them though. Here is a picture of Marty scaring me with a story of teenagers tortured to death by the Elmo’s World song. Truly horrific!

I told Marty the classic La LLorona story of the Mexican woman who lost her looks because she had so many children so quickly and her husband was cheating on her so she killed all the kids then her husband killed her. Now her ghost roams wherever there is water (like around all the bayous in Houston) searching for crying children. When she finds them she snatches them! My mom and aunts used to scare me and my cousins with this story so we wouldn't cry when we were little. I couldn't believe I'd never told it to Marty before. He's almost 11. All in all, tonight was a lot of fun. Until tomorrow...
