“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” Goethe
This quote is what inspired me to begin my blog. I’d been dreaming of how beautiful I could make it. I imagined friends oohing and aahing over how terribly clever I am. As long as the blog existed in my imagination, it was absolutely perfect. Life isn’t perfect. I know, so I had to get my head out of the clouds and just start. I am awfully good at never beginning projects. I’m glad I forced myself to try this. To keep on track and make blogging a habit I decided to follow a 30 day photo challenge I read about on the everyday is a holiday blog. Today the challenge is fruit. Here is my first attempt.
I remember last spring going outside one day to walk my dogs and discovering a patch of wild strawberries in my yard. I thought to myself I should take a picture of this and start a blog. I never did take that picture. This year the strawberries didn’t return as we’re experiencing a drought in south east Texas. I’ve learned a lesson. I don’t suffer from delusions of grandeur. I don’t need my blog to shake up the world. If it brings a smile to my face, that will be enough. So, I will stop judging myself harshly. I will try and try again. And I will have fun doing it.
Some other words of wisdom from Goethe that I have tried to follow for years now are, “Every day we should hear at least one little song, read one good poem, see one exquisite picture, and, if possible, speak a few sensible words.” They call Goethe Germany’s Shakespeare and he sounds brilliant. See you tomorrow!
